The Ambassadors of Harmony Win 13th Consecutive District
Championship!

The
Ambassadors of Harmony, an a cappella chorus of 150
men, won their 13th consecutive Championship in the
BHS Central States District Chorus competition on October
20th in Kansas City, Missouri, under the direction of
Dr. Jim Henry. The group are currently International
Silver Medalists, having tied for first place last July
at the BHS International Competition in Denver Colorado,
and were awarded the Silver Medal in accordance with
the BHS tie breaking rules. They also won the International
Championship Gold Medal in 2004. Prior to that time
they had won the District Championship for eleven years
in a row. They performed a two-song set in the contest,
which included They Didn't Believe Me, and Fit as a
Fiddle, which brought the crowd to their feet. Both
songs were arranged by Dr. David Wright, Associate Director.
In
addition to winning the competition in Kansas City,
the Ambassadors offered a performance following the
competition of Friend Like Me, from the movie Aladdin;
Fare Thee Well Love; and All Nations Rise, receiving
standing ovations. They then invited the Heart of America
Chorus, from Kansas City, runners-up in the competition,
to join them on-stage to sing a heartfelt rendition
of "Friends", in honor of Heart of America
Director Jim Bagby, who will be retiring from directing
after many successful years.
Winning
the District Championship qualifies the Ambassadors
of Harmony to compete at the BHS International Chorus
Contest, in July of 2008, in Nashville, Tennessee. They'll
begin preparing for that now, along with rehearsing
for their annual holiday show, Sounds of the Season
- 2007, which will be held at the Touhill Performing
Arts Center December 7-9, 2007. For more show information
