The
Ambassadors of Harmony, an a cappella chorus from St.
Charles, Missouri, won their 14th consecutive Championship
in the BHS Central States District Chorus competition
on October 11th in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, under the direction
of Dr. Jim Henry. They are currently International Silver
Medalists, after having placed second at the BHS International
Chorus Competition last July in Nashville, Tennessee.
They
performed a two-song set in yesterday's contest, which
included Love Walked In, and a medley of Get
Me To The Church On Time and This Joint is
Jumpin', which brought the crowd to their feet.
Both songs were arranged by Dr. David Wright, Associate
Director. This chorus has been an International Medalist
12 times since 1994, and won the International Championship
Gold Medal in 2004.
In
addition to winning the competition in Cedar Rapids,
the Ambassadors offered a performance following the
competition reprising Get Me To The Church On Time,
followed by Music of the Night, and Ring
of Fire.
Winning
the District Championship qualifies the Ambassadors
of Harmony to compete at the BHS International Chorus
Contest, in July of 2009, in Anaheim, Calfornia. They'll
begin preparing for that now, along with rehearsing
for their annual holiday show, Sounds of the Season
- 2008, which will be held at the Touhill Performing
Arts Center December 12 through 14, 2008. For more show
