of Harmony Win 11th Consecutive District Championship While Our Quartets

On
October 11, The Ambassadors of Harmony, under the direction of Jim Henry,
were once again declared Central States District Champions in the
competition held at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
The chorus performed "Just a Kid Named Joe" and
"Shine" for a delighted crowd, an scored higher than ever in a
district level competition with a 90.7. This is their eleventh consecutive
year to win the District Championship, and qualifies them to represent the
District at the International Chorus Competition in Louisvile, Kentucky in
July of 2004.
After
the evening Quartet finals, the Ambassadors performed "Harmony,
Harmony, "Drunken Sailor". Associate Director David Wright made
a special dedication of their final song, "I'll Walk With God",
to Rob Henry, who passed away in September. The chorus received a standing
ovation that lasted several minutes.
In the
District Quartet Competition, quartets from the Ambassadors completed a
clean sweep!!
Cadence,
including Dave Brooks, Vince Smith, Doug Brooks, and Alex Brandt, won the
2003 Central States District Quartet Championship with a truly
fantastic performance.
The Central
Statesmen, (Bill McLaurine, Bob Cearnal, John Marshall, and Pat
Flynn) current Central States District Seniors Quartet Champions, came out
on top in the Seniors Competition and qualified to represent
the District at the International Seniors Quartet Competition at the
Mid-Winter Convention in 2004.
Last,
but certainly not least, Posted Notes (Larry Peterson, Dave Evans,
Vince Seyer, and Claus Bacher) walked away with both the Novice and
Super-Novice Quartet Trophies!!
