Ambassadors of Harmony Receive Thanks from Hard Corps Chorale

Dear Bill and Carol Benner,

Today the Hard Corps Chorale had the honour to sing for the soldiers at our Commemoration Service for the events of September 11th, 2001. It took place in the main hall of the Al Faw Palace, Camp Victory, on the outskirts of Baghdad.

It was a moving event in which we sang "The Mansions of the Lord" whilst the members of the Fire Department raised the American Flag. Then a few moments later that was followed by the "Armed Forces Hymn", during which a montage of slides depicted the various Services of the US Armed Forces.

Afterwards our choir master, LTC Niel Johnson, surprised us by handing out boxes that had been sent to the HCC by the 'Ambassadors of Harmony'. It was a touching gesture that I greatly appreciate although there was more than I could hope to use on my own; so I hope that you will not mind that I have shared your generosity with others in my Branch.

By way of thanks I enclose a photograph of the Chorale, Niel is the second from the right (second row), whilst I am second from the left. The odd uniform is because I'm one of the UK Coalition partners serving here with the 18th Corps; this also explains the odd "spelling mistakes" in this e-mail.

Again my sincerest thanks to you both and all those who take the time to think of the soldiers serving in Iraq and elsewhere.

Yours, in harmony,

John Wiggell
