of Charleytown (excerpt) The Ambassadors of Harmony chorus of St. Charles has won the Barbershop Society's 2004 International Championship. The group was awarded the first place for its performance on July 3 in Louisville, Ky., and received a standing ovation from a crowd of more than 8,000 excited attendees. With a long history of musical excellence in a cappella singing, the Ambassadors once again qualified for entry into international competition last fall by winning the annual Central States District Chorus Championship for the 11th consecutive year. The Ambassadors competed against a field of 22 choruses from around the world. Under the direction of Jim Henry, they sang two songs arranged by Associate Director David Wright - "I Have Dreamed" and "The New Ashmolean Marching Society and Students' Conservatory Band." They took 160 dedicated men to the international competition stage, the largest chorus ever to perform in this annual event.
