Ambassadors of Harmony Quartets
and Members Achieve New Goals,
Receive Awards at International Competition

In addition to the winning the 2004 International Chorus Championship, several members of the Ambassadors of Harmony were recognized for outstanding achievement during the Barbershop Harmony Society's 2004 International Convention held in Louisville, Kentucky last week.

Dr. Jim Henry, Director of the Ambassadors of Harmony, received the National Association for Music Education (MENC) Music Educators Award on July 3, 2004 at the Barbershop Harmony Society's International Convention for his outstanding contributions to collegiate music and music education. Jim is also the bass singer in the 1993 International Champion Gas House Gang quartet.

Vocal Spectrum, featuring Tim Waurick (Tenor), Eric Dalbey (Lead), Chris Hallam (Bass), and Jonny Moroni (Baritone) won the 2004 International Collegiate Quartet Championship with a score that would have placed them in the Top Ten of the regular International Quartet Competition. This great quartet attends Lindenwood University.

3 Men and a Melody - Chris Droegemueller (Tenor), Eric Derks (Lead), Brian Bellof (Bass), Brad Stephens (Baritone) - excelled in representing the Ambassadors of Harmony by placing 10th in the International Quartet Competition. Making the "Top Ten" required them to perform two songs in each of three rounds of the competition over a four day period. They finished 6 places higher than they did in the 2003 competition.

12th Street Rag - Micah Jeppeson (Tenor), Mark Fortino (Lead), Barry Moore (Bass), John Fortino (Baritone) - placed 11th in the International Quartet Contest, improving their standing by four places over last year. Their performances for two rounds of the competition last Wednesday and Friday qualified them to be mike testers for the final round of the contest on Saturday evening.

Hal Maples, Ambassadors of Harmony Vice President for PR, Marketing & Communication was awarded the PR Officer of the Year Award by the Barbershop Society's PR Officers and Bulletin Editors (PROBE) organization at the International Convention for his year long promotional efforts on behalf of the Ambassadors of Harmony. Hal is also the Ambassadors of Harmony Webmaster, and sings bass with the chorus.
