Ambassadors of Harmony Have Great Show, Prepare for Salt Lake City The International Champion Ambassadors of Harmony chorus had a great time last Saturday, offering two performances of "Solid Gold" at the Touhill Performing Arts Center, and received standing ovations at both performances. They are now preparing to go to Salt Lake City, Utah to perform at this year's BHS International Convention. They will be performing twice on Friday July 7th, and right after the Chorus Contest on Saturday July 8th, where they will be passing the Championship trophy to the newly crowned International Champion Chorus. These events will be webcast through the BHS web site. Follow this link, or click on the webcast link on the home page at www.aoh.org, for detailed information about how you can join them there http://www.barbershop.org/web/groups/public/documents/pages/pub_id_065357.hcsp#P-7_0 Following this convention, The Ambassadors will lay out of competition for one more year before returning to the competitive arena. They have been invited to perform overseas several times over the years, and are planning a performance trip to England in 2006. In addition, few people get the opportunity to sing with the world-renowned Mormon Tabernacle Choir, but The Ambaassadors of Harmony will have that opportunity July 10 during a special concert in Salt Lake City. AOH won the Barbershop Harmony Society’s international chorus competition in 2004. Many of them will join the Society’s Gold Medal Chorus, a group of 600 past Gold Medal winners, in Salt Lake City for “Sacred Gold,” a joint concert with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in the Conference Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Together, the groups will form a 960-voice chorus. Other performers include gold-medal winning quartets Acoustix, Power Play and Four Voices. The concert will be held immediately following the LDS Church’s “Music and the Spoken Word” program featuring both choirs and broadcast to 2000 radio stations throughout North America. (To see if the concert will be broadcast in this area, go to www.bonneville.info/msw_lookup.htm) The concert is a part of the week-long 67th annual convention and competitions of the Barbershop Harmony Society, the largest all-male singing organization.
