Bob Cearnal

Bob joined the Belleville, Illinois, Chapter in 1968 and had a quartet called the Accutones a short time later. They finished in second place in the district contest in 1974. Two years later he joined a quartet called Male Delivery, who won the coveted district championship in 1978. He became an Ambassador in 1995. In AoH he joined a quartet called The Central Statesmen, which won the district senior championship in 2003 and placed sixth at the International Senior Contest that same year.

To his credit, Bob has earned several awards since joining barbershop. Besides being Belleville's Barbershopper of the Year, he was also presented with the David Wright Award here in St. Charles. At the Illinois District level he received the prestigious Quartet Champions Association's Music Man Award as well as the highest district honor, the Award for Barbershop Excellence. In his administrative capacity, Bob served as Illinois District President in 1983-4 and as International President in 1991.

Bob's enthusiastic "whirlybird" introductions have served him well, also. He has undoubtedly emceed more International Quartet, Senior, Quartet, and Chorus competitions than any other master of ceremonies.

One last accomplishment: Bob has 58 Man of Note awards! These were awarded each time he sponsored a new member in the Barbershop Harmony Society.
